Laurie Boyer, LCSW

I'm Laurie. I love sitting with people in the messy, meaningful places of life and helping them discover what healing and growth can look like.

About Laurie

I have been working in the healthcare and healing fields since 1988, and throughout that time I have been drawn to the same fundamental question: What helps people heal, reconnect with themselves, and move toward a fuller life?

My professional journey began in childbirth education and support, where I worked with women and families as a birth educator and labor doula. Over the years, my curiosity about healing led me to train as a massage therapist, Thai Yoga massage practitioner, and yoga instructor. I also spent time on the seasonal staff at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies and volunteered with Hospice, where I received training in end-of-life support.

These experiences taught me something I continue to carry into my work today: our emotional and physical lives are deeply connected. What happens in our bodies can affect how we think, feel, and relate to others—and what we experience emotionally can live in the body as well.

Laurie specializes in:

Anxiety Therapy
Depression Therapy
EMDR Therapy
Grief & Loss Therapy
Individual Therapy
Online Therapy and Telehealth
Somatic Therapy
Therapy for Older Adults
Trauma & PTSD Therapy

Laurie’s Approach to Care

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I don’t believe there is one right way to heal, and I don’t see my role as telling you who you should be or how you should live. Instead, I see therapy as a collaborative process—creating a space where you can slow down, become more curious about yourself, make sense of what you’ve experienced, and discover what might help you move forward.
I draw from an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches and, when appropriate, incorporate EMDR and other body-based and experiential practices. My particular area of interest is significant life transitions—including changes in relationships, pregnancy and parenthood, retirement, illness, aging, or other moments when life no longer looks the way you expected it to.

I strive to create a space where you can feel seen, heard, respected, and safe enough to be honest about what is really happening. Sometimes healing means developing new skills or perspectives. Sometimes it means tending to old wounds. Sometimes it means learning to listen to what your body and emotions have been trying to tell you. And sometimes it simply means having someone walk beside you while you find your way through a difficult season.

I believe that mental health is an essential part of overall health, and that meaningful healing involves not just feeling better, but moving toward greater connection, resilience, and a life that feels more fully your own.

Laurie’s education and experience

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver and have provided counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Becoming a therapist allowed me to bring together the different parts of my professional journey and create the kind of practice I had envisioned: one that recognizes the whole person rather than separating emotional well-being from the rest of our lives.

I have been honored to accompany people through some of life’s most significant transitions for more than three decades. It is a privilege to continue this work.
